After my fair share of bike touring including a transcontinetal solo trip when I was 18, I'd begun to grow disenchanted with the idea of bicycle travel. The Tall Bike was my solution. A means to make roads longer, hills taller, and human interactions all the more interesting. In the fall of 2016, my friend Tony and I caught a ride up north and rode back home from the Adirondacks to New Jersey - I on my tall home made steed and he on a salvaged decades-old frame. It was a weird trip full of stealthy urban camping, soul crushing moments that would ultimately lead to Tony's break up with his then girlfriend, and a unique set of mechanical issues.
